The ESL Safety
Data Sheet CHECK
SERVICE provides a fast and low
cost way by which companies can determine the status of their
safety data sheets and decide whether re-drafting is necessary
You
depend on accurate, CHIP(3) compliant safety data sheets to meet
your legal obligations. Inaccurate safety data
sheets can lead to a company being held responsible for
consequential injuries to staff or customers .
Many companies
issue fully compliant safety data sheets but there are also large
numbers of non-compliant sheets in circulation,
particularly amongst those originating from outside the EC.
The situation is aggravated by changes in legislation and in
chemical reference data leading to data sheets which were
compliant when issued quickly becoming obsolete and/or
inaccurate
The ESL check
service is cost effective and efficient because it is partially
automated through specialist software we have developed.
Under the
service it will firstly be determined whether the materials
concerned fall within the scope of the CHIP(3) regulations and,
if so, safety data sheet will be assessed against the
PRINCIPAL requirements for CHIP(3) compliance as follows:
| (1) |
Compliance
with CHIP(3) safety data sheet format e.g.
correct 16 headings and correctly dated. |
|
| (2) |
For
a substance, whether the classification
complies with either that contained in the
Approved Supply List or the toxicological and eco-toxicological
data that are quoted on the MSDS. |
|
| (3) |
For
a preparation , whether the composition
information complies with CHIP(3) and, if so,
whether the classification has been calculated
correctly. |
|
| (4) |
Whether
the substance(s) within a preparation have a
reported occupational exposure level e.g.
whether they are included on EH40, and, if so,
whether it appears correctly on the safety
data sheet. |
|
| (5) |
Whether
the labelling information contained in the
regulation section is correct. |
|
| (6) |
Whether
the information in the transport section is
consistent with other information quoted on
the safety data sheet. |
|
| (7) |
The
results will be presented in the form of a
report confirming compliance or indicating why
the safety data sheet does not comply |
|
The
cost is only £18* per data sheet for 100+ data sheets
or,
£31* per data sheet for less than 100 data sheets |
